Album Review: The Bear
Lyrics like "Nobody's perfect/Let's bury the hatchet/'Cause a grudge can be contagious and I don't want to catch it" (see "All Part of the Show") are just one reasons we love this refreshing folk-rock group's newest album, The Bear. From sweet to comical to insightful, Stephen Kellogg & the Sixers, who hail from western Massachusetts, never fail to surprise their listeners. SK6ERS, as they're more affectionately known, can also be counted on to display wonderful vocals and rhythms on all of their tracks and albums. Though not exactly a new release (from Sept. 2009), we recommend broadening your horizons to this wonderful act, best known for their energetic live shows.
Catch SK6ERS at The Blind Pig in Ann Arbor on Oct. 7.
Most notable tracks: "Shady Esperanto and the Young Hearts," "See Yourself"
