We're on a Christmas hiatus... but our podcasts are back up and running!

Howdy folks! Just a quick note to let y'all know that Yeah, What She Said is taking a 3-week hiatus over Christmas. We will still broadcast shows on December 20, 27 and January 3, but they will not be our usual talk-shows with a feminist focus. Instead, we'll be takin 'er easy and playing some sweet tunes.

Good news though... our podcasts are finally back up and running! Just follow this link to check out our latest podcasts.

Thanks to all our listeners, fans and blog readers who have supported us in 2010! We hope you have a wonderful holiday season and we are stoked to provide more feisty, feminist radio in 2011!

Your hosts,
Jennie Thunder, Geea and Lady Bee

Podcasts will be back soon! We promise!

Many apologizes to our listeners who have been asking, "Where are your podcasts?" They will be returning very soon - within the next few weeks!

As mentioned before on the blog, we had to temporarily cancel the podcasts due to CJSW's move to a new studio. During the move, the computers in the production room were out of commission. The production room is now set up and we are ready to start podcasting again soon.

We apologize again for the lack of podcasts, and thanks to all our listeners for subscribing to the podcasts and supporting Yeah, What She Said!

Podcasts Temporarily on Hiatus

Some of you may have noticed that our weekly feminist podcasts haven’t been appearing in your iTunes lately. We apologize for this.

The lack of new podcasts has been a result of CJSW’s move to our new studio location. As you can imagine, moving all the equipment at a radio station is quite an undertaking, and it’s taking longer than expected for our production rooms and equipment to be set up. So, until this is all ready, it is very difficult to prepare our podcasts.

Fear not our feminist friends… the podcasts will return! We hope they’ll be up and running again right after Christmas.

Tonight's Show - Workplace Sexual Harassment

On tonight's program, we will be looking at the issue of sexual harassment in the workplace. The thought that nearly all women have encountered some form of sexual harassment in their professional lives is a startling one and a topic that needs to be explored and shared as much as possible.

Geea and I will talk about some sexual harassment statistics and go over what sexual harassment looks like. More often than not, it can go unreported where a woman convinces herself that a colleague or employer is just being "friendly". We hope to break down that confusion by sharing both legal and social information regarding the matter.

For further reading on what you will hear about tonight, please visit the following links:

-Fact Sheet on Sexual Harassment

-Sexual Harassment in The Workplace - Student Legal Service of Edmonton

Join us live, tonight at 8:30pm MST on CJSW 90.9 FM and www.cjsw.com or subscribe to the Yeah, What She Said podcast to listen to this and other episodes at your convenience.

Tonight's Show - A Spin on "Labour" Day

Labour Day is an annual holiday that resulted from the labour union movement that celebrates the economic and social achievements of workers. However, we decided to take a feminist spin on the word "labour" and do a show about birthing, labour and delivery.

Tonight, we'll discuss the history of birthing in Canada, with a particular focus on the role of the midwife. Prior to the 1920's, Canadians were born at home with the assistance of family members and a midwife. But changes in technology and a shift toward hospital births made the midwife almost obsolete. Today, there is a major comeback in the desire for midwifes, but there aren't enough midwives to meet the demand.

We will also discuss some of the drugs administered to women in labour. From epidurals (for pain relief in labour) to oxytocin (a hormone that can initiate or speed up labour) we'll look at various drugs commonly used in hospital births and the affects they may have on mother and child.

Tune in tonight from 8:30 to 9:00 pm on CJSW 90.9 fm. Remember, our show is now available as a podcast, so visit this page to dowloand or subscribe to our podcasts.

Tonight's Show: Weddings and Wives

Tonight Jennie Thunder and Geea explore the wierd and wonderful world of weddings and wives. Naturally, we do it with a feminist twist.

We'll look at the history behind the diamond engagement ring - and it ain't pretty. We'll delve into the mass consumerism behind the billion-dollar wedding industry. We'll discuss the history of the white dress and the meaning of becoming a wife.

Tune in tonight at 8:30 pm on CJSW 90.9 fm, or from http://www.cjsw.com/.
